Celebrate opera and your community by contributing today! We lovingly accept donations at any time for all our projects. We are currently rehearsing LOLA's first commission, Lardo Weeping by composer, Peter Stopschinski and librettist, Terry Galloway. About Lardo Weeping: LOLA has commissioned Austin's own Peter Stopschinski to create a new chamber opera score based on a one-woman play by Terry Galloway called Lardo Weeping. This comedic and endearing new work focuses on Dinah, a woman with a challenging and often times humorous personality that colors her relationship with the world. Lardo Weeping features mezzo soprano, Liz Cass, an instrumental chamber ensemble, a chorus of singers, and technical elements all woven together to illuminate how we explore what it means to be human. Our first workshop in March was a smashing success. We are planning a 2nd workshop concert for February of 2020 and the fully realized production will launch in the Fall of 2020.
Also upcoming, LOLA presents La Femme Bohème in San Diego! That’s right, LOLA’s going on tour to sunny San Diego for the San Diego State University #Herstory Month: Women's Music, Diversity, and Leadership Conference 2019. Our performance is FREE and open to the public. Now you have one more reason to head West!
LOLA is opera by the people for the people and you are the people that help us sparkle and shine. LOLA is committed to cultivating the future of opera by offering new approaches to experiencing this particular musical genre and type of singing. Our focus is on integrity in our approach to this art form, to the Austin community, and to each other.
